Static and app hosting, served from everywhere at once

If your site is built on Astro, Next.js, or a similar framework, it deserves hosting built the same way. We host modern sites on Firebase, served from Google’s global network, so pages load fast wherever the visitor is, with very little to maintain and almost nothing to break, and we handle the lot. We’re a small studio in north Norfolk, a short drive from Norwich, hosting static sites and web apps for businesses there and across the UK. £60 a year from year two, with the first year included in every new build.

What we mean by it

The right home for a modern site.

A site built on a modern JS framework works differently from a WordPress site, and it's hosted differently too. Instead of a server running software to assemble each page on request, the pages are built ahead of time and served as plain files from a network of servers around the world.

This hosting is the right fit for

Static websites built with Astro, Next.js, or a similar modern framework.

Web apps with serverless backends, where some logic runs on demand.

Sites that need fast delivery everywhere, with minimal infrastructure to think about.

It isn't the right fit for

WordPress sites, which belong on Managed WordPress Hosting.

Sites that need a traditional database and PHP runtime.

Anything Firebase doesn't suit, in which case we'll name the platform that does.

The platform

Built on Google's infrastructure.

We host modern sites on Firebase, Google's hosting platform. A few reasons it's the right choice for this kind of work.

Served from close to your visitor

Firebase serves your site from a content delivery network with locations worldwide. A visitor in Norwich and a visitor in Sydney are both served from somewhere near them, so the site is quick for everyone, not just people near a single UK server.

Almost nothing to maintain

A static site has no live database, no PHP runtime, and no plugins. That means there's very little to patch, very little to keep updated, and very little that can quietly break between one month and the next. Low-maintenance by design, not by neglect.

It absorbs busy days

When traffic spikes (a feature in a newsletter, a busy campaign, a mention somewhere popular), the CDN simply serves the cached files to everyone. There's no single server to overload, so a good day for the business doesn't become a bad day for the website.

Serverless functions where a site needs them

A purely static site doesn't need any server-side logic, but some sites do: a form handler, a search, a small piece of app behaviour. Firebase runs those as serverless functions, which spin up only when needed. You get dynamic capability without a server sitting there to maintain.

Managed by us

You don't deal with the Firebase console, the deployment, or the configuration. We set it up, we deploy the site, and we look after it. To you, it's simply hosting that works.

What's included

What every modern site gets, as standard.

App and static hosting through BrainWeb includes all of the following.

  • Global CDN delivery, through Google's network, fast for visitors anywhere

  • Free SSL certificate, with HTTPS enforced

  • Automatic scaling, so traffic spikes are absorbed rather than feared

  • Serverless functions configured where the site needs them

  • Deployment handled by us, through an automated pipeline

  • A naturally small attack surface, with no database or PHP runtime exposed

  • Uptime monitoring, so we know about a problem before a visitor reports it

  • Direct access to the maker when you need help, by email or phone

What it costs

What does it cost after the first year?

Every new modern build includes its first year of hosting in the project. From year two, static site care is £60 a year (£6 a month if you’d rather pay monthly): Firebase hosting, SSL and DNS checks, dependency updates, and domain renewal checks, all handled by us. Annual billing is deliberately the better deal.

Sites with a Payload CMS backend carry more running infrastructure (compute, database, media storage), so they’re quoted per site as part of the project, with the figure fixed before the build starts and confirmed against how the site is used.

£60/year

Static site care

Firebase hosting, SSL and DNS checks, dependency updates, and domain renewal checks, handled by us. £6/month if billed monthly.

The quiet advantage

Less to maintain isn't an accident.

The biggest difference between this and traditional hosting shows up after launch, in what you don't have to think about.

There's no database to back up and worry about. No PHP runtime to patch. No plugins drifting out of date between updates. No caching layer to nurse. The things that make a neglected WordPress site a genuine risk simply aren't part of a static site's makeup.

That doesn't mean a modern site needs no hosting at all: it still needs serving, monitoring, and the occasional deployment when content or code changes, and that's what this service covers. But the ongoing burden is smaller, and in a year when website security has become a sharper concern, a small attack surface is a practical advantage; the Host overview explains what changed.

Where the edges are

What this hosting does and doesn't cover.

App and static hosting covers serving your site, fast and reliably, with monitoring and deployment handled. A few edges worth naming.

It isn't for WordPress.

A WordPress site needs a database and a PHP runtime, which is a different setup entirely. That's what Managed WordPress Hosting is for; a site goes on the platform that fits it.

It isn't unlimited development time.

New pages, new features, and design changes are project or hourly work. Hosting serves the site you have; building on it is separate work.

Serverless usage has a cost.

If a site makes heavy use of serverless functions, that carries a usage charge, and a sudden, very large spike in traffic can affect the monthly figure. We size this realistically in the quote, we keep an eye on it, and and a spike gets flagged to you before it ever reaches an invoice.

Got a modern site that needs a home?

The first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Whether you’re planning a new modern build, you’ve got an Astro or Next.js site that needs a home, or you want to understand the options, get in touch and we’ll talk it through.
