Web design that fits the business behind it

Your customers decide in seconds whether a site is for them. We design websites around what they came to do and what your business sells: considered, accessible, and shaped for the build that follows, whether that's WordPress, a modern JS framework, or a single page. We're a small web design studio in north Norfolk, a short drive from Norwich, working with businesses there and right across the UK.

What's included

What's in every design project

Every design project includes everything below, inside the fixed quote. The build phase has its own list on the Build overview.

  • The initial conversation

free, 30 to 60 minutes, so we both know it's the right fit before anything is quoted

  • A fixed written quote

for the design phase, before any work begins

  • Bespoke design

designed from a blank page around your business and your customers

  • The First Look

the homepage and one key internal page, at real fidelity, for you to react to

  • Revision rounds

as many as it takes; we don't count them against a limit

  • Designed mobile-first

and checked at phone, tablet, and desktop sizes

  • Accessibility designed in

contrast, type sizes, focus states, and layouts that work with a keyboard; the build page covers the implementation

  • GDPR-aware design

forms that ask only for what's needed, and consent that doesn't get in the way; the build page covers the code

WordPress or modern JS?

The platform shapes the design, so it's decided in the initial conversation, not after. The Build overview sets out the trade-offs in full.

Every price is a starting point; the quote is fixed, in writing, before work begins. Every build includes a training session at handover and the first year of managed hosting, and we are not VAT registered, so the agreed figure is the invoiced figure. Custom WordPress, e-commerce, and larger builds are quoted individually.

HOW DESIGN WORK RUNS

From first conversation
to a design you've signed off.

The design phase is where the look, feel, and structure of the site get decided. It's the part most clients are picturing when they think about getting a website made, and it sets up everything that comes after.

BEFORE WE START

The Initial Conversation

A proper chat about your business and your brand: what you've got that's working, what isn't, and what the site is for. We'll talk about whether a refresh or a full rebuild fits, what the timing might look like, and roughly what the design phase would involve.

GETTING TO KNOW THE BRAND

The Groundwork

Before design can begin, we need the raw materials. That means your logo and brand assets if you have them, a sense of voice and tone (or our help defining one), reference sites you like, sample copy or content notes, and any photography or imagery you want to work with. If you've got brand guidelines, even informal ones, send them over.

We don't ask you to fill in long discovery forms. A clear shared list, a couple of focused questions, and a conversation if that's faster.

02

WHERE DESIGN HAPPENS

The First Look

We put together an initial design concept, typically the homepage and one key internal page, designed specifically for your business. Not a template, not a moodboard: a real design at real fidelity that you can react to.

We work through structured rounds of feedback until the direction is right, and we don't count revisions against a limit. The First Look exists so you can tell us early what's working and what isn't, before any build work begins. Sign-off here is the biggest decision in the project; once you're happy, the first invoice goes out and the build starts.

HANDOFF

What happens next

Once the design is signed off, the build phase takes over. The full site gets engineered to match the design, your hosting gets set up at launch, and the site goes live. If you're commissioning design only and taking the files to another developer, we hand over the assets cleanly and you can take it from there.

If your question isn't here, ask. You'll get an answer from the person who'd be doing the design work.

Will my site be mobile-friendly?

Yes. Every site we design is built mobile-first and tested across breakpoints. More than half of most websites' visitors arrive on a phone, so mobile isn't an afterthought; it's the starting point.

How much does a web design project cost?

It depends on the approach and the scope. Single-page sites start from £350. Standard WordPress sites (up to 12 pages) start from £550. Custom WordPress sites start from £750. Modern JS framework sites start from £600. WordPress e-commerce starts from £1,000. Bespoke design pairs with the build it's chosen for, so pricing follows the relevant build tier. Full detail lives on the Build page, and every project is fixed-quoted before any work begins.

What does "bespoke web design" actually mean?

A site designed from scratch for your business, not adapted from a theme. The structure, typography, photography, and small interactions are all chosen for you specifically. We don't start with a generic template and customise it; we start with a blank page and design from there. A bespoke design can be quiet, restrained, or classical, it doesn't have to be flashy. The point is that every decision is deliberate, made for you, and not running on thousands of other sites.

Do you do illustrations or custom icons?

Where the project genuinely needs them. The brand style leans heavily on real photography rather than illustration, but custom icons, hand-drawn diagrams, or editorial illustrations are a fit on some projects. We'll talk through whether it's right for yours and quote any custom illustration as part of the project, or recommend an illustrator we trust if the work warrants a specialist.

Do I need to have copy written before we start?

Not necessarily, but the more we know about what you want to say, the better the design serves it. If you've got copy, send it in the Groundwork stage. If you don't, we can help: we offer copywriting and AI-assisted writing as a separate service, with editorial oversight. Even a rough sketch ("here's roughly what each section should cover") is enough to start the design.

Ready to talk about your design?

The first conversation costs nothing and commits you to nothing. Tell us about your business and what you've already got, and we'll come back with a view on what the right design would involve and what it would cost.
