WordPress web design, built to keep adding to

If you want to add pages, posts, and sections yourself after launch, WordPress with Divi is the platform built for it. We design the site from scratch around your business, build it on a custom Divi child theme of its own, and hand it over with the familiar WordPress admin ready for you to run. We're a small studio in north Norfolk, a short drive from Norwich, designing WordPress sites for businesses there and across the UK. Starting prices for all three approaches sit side by side on the web design page.

WHAT WE MEAN BY IT

A bespoke design, tuned for the platform underneath.

WordPress web design at BrainWeb means a design made from scratch for your business, then built for WordPress with Divi so you can edit and extend it yourself. Divi is the editor you'll use day to day; it is never the source of the design.

  • The design comes first. We never start from a stock Divi theme and tweak it. Every project gets its own custom Divi child theme, built around the design we've agreed with you.
  • Divi shapes the build, not the look. The structure, typography, and photography are designed for your business; Divi is the tool underneath, the part you'll use as editor.
  • You keep control after launch. New pages, blog posts, gallery items, and sections are all yours to add in the WordPress admin once we've handed over.

WHO IT'S FOR

Right for clients who want a platform they can run themselves.

This is the design approach to choose when:

  • You want to add pages, blog posts, gallery items, or new sections yourself after launch
  • You value the breadth of the WordPress ecosystem (plugins for bookings, memberships, e-commerce, forums, and courses, among thousands of others)
  • You're running, or planning to run, a content-heavy site (regular blog posts, news updates, case studies, events)
  • You're already comfortable with WordPress, or you're happy to learn a platform that thousands of others use too
  • You want a platform any WordPress developer can pick up, in case you ever bring in another pair of hands

It's probably not the right fit when:

  • Performance and security are your highest priorities, and you'd rather invest in those than in editing flexibility (Modern Web Design is the call)
  • You don't actually want to edit the site yourself, in which case a modern build or a one-page site keeps more off your plate
  • The brief calls for distinctive interactions or layout choices that off-the-shelf platforms struggle to handle (Bespoke Web Design with custom development is the better fit)

The initial conversation settles it either way, and if WordPress isn't the right platform for the job we'll name the one that is.

HOW WE WORK

Bespoke first, Divi second.

A few things that shape every WordPress design project at BrainWeb.

A custom Divi child theme for every project

The child theme is built for your design alone, so no other site runs the same look and the design survives Divi updates cleanly.

Designed with the editor in mind

The design is structured so you can add pages, sections, and posts over time without breaking it: editable areas behave predictably, typography stays consistent, and new sections drop in cleanly.

The same design principles as every BrainWeb project

Typography doing the visual work, restrained colour, real photography. The full set is on the bespoke web design page; being a WordPress site changes none of it.

Accessibility designed in

Contrast, focus states, type sizes, and reading order are decided at design, including the parts of Divi that need careful configuration to stay accessible. WCAG 2.1 AA basics are the default.

A short training session at handover

Before handover we walk you through the WordPress admin and Divi, cover the parts you'll use weekly, and leave notes for the parts you'll use twice a year.

PROJECT SHAPES

Three typical shapes, one design approach behind all of them.

The design approach is the same; the scope and complexity of the build shifts depending on what you need the site to do.

Standard WordPress site

A WordPress build with Divi, up to about twelve pages, with a blog. The typical content site for an SME: home, services, about, contact, the usual structure, plus a blog to publish from over time. Bespoke design, custom Divi child theme, ready to extend.

Custom WordPress site

For larger or more structured projects: custom post types for events, properties, products, or team members; integrations with CRMs, booking systems, or accounting software; custom plugin work where the project needs it.

WordPress e-commerce

WooCommerce-based online shops. Bespoke design for the storefront, product pages, basket, and checkout. Stripe or PayPal integration, UK tax configuration, shipping setup, order email design, all part of the build.

WHAT'S INCLUDED

What's in every WordPress design project.

Everything below is inside the fixed quote, whichever of the three shapes the project takes.

  • The initial conversation, free, 30 to 60 minutes, to settle the right shape and scope
  • A fixed written quote for the project, before any work begins
  • A design made from scratch, then built on a custom Divi child theme of its own
  • The First Look: the homepage and one key internal page, at real fidelity, for you to react to
  • Revision rounds, as many as it takes; we don't count them against a limit
  • Designed mobile-first and checked at phone, tablet, and desktop sizes
  • Accessibility designed in, with WCAG 2.1 AA basics as the default
  • GDPR-aware design for forms, consent, and data handling
  • A training session on WordPress and Divi at handover
  • One year of managed WordPress hosting; the Host page has the detail

The build-phase details (custom plugins, integrations, e-commerce setup) are covered on the matching build pages.

WHAT IT COSTS

What does a WordPress site cost?

It depends on the shape: a standard site, a custom build with post types and integrations, or an e-commerce store each start at a different point, and the web design page puts the starting prices side by side. Whatever the shape, the quote is fixed in writing before work begins, paid 50% at design sign-off and 50% at launch, and the first year of managed WordPress hosting is part of the project.

THE HOSTING QUESTION

A WordPress site needs looking after, every week it's live.

WordPress is the most popular publishing platform on the web, which also makes it the biggest target for automated attacks; a well-built site that's kept current stays safe, and one left to drift doesn't. That's why the first year of managed WordPress hosting is part of every new build, and why the hosting page explains exactly what looking after a site involves.

THE OTHER OPTIONS

Not sure if WordPress is the right call?

All three are designed here; the difference is the platform underneath.

Bespoke Web Design

Design from a blank page rather than a Divi layout, for businesses that want a look nobody else has. Pairs naturally with custom development or modern JS framework builds.

Modern Web Design (Astro / Next.js)

The trade the other way: no plugins to keep updated and a much smaller attack surface, in exchange for editing in Payload rather than Divi.

One-Page Web Design

If there’s nothing to edit week to week, one well-designed page costs less and launches in two to three weeks.
