Web Design
North Walsham

Our nearest town, ten minutes from the studio, and one where a good many businesses sell nowhere near it.

North Walsham is ten minutes from the studio, which makes it the town we know best, and it is also the one that most often catches people out. From the outside it reads as a straightforward market town: a Thursday market, a Market Place rebuilt in 2023 under the High Street Heritage Action Zone scheme, independents tucked down the lokes. Then you go out to the industrial estates and find manufacturers shipping to customers who could not place Norfolk on a map. Those two halves of the town need websites that are close to opposites, and working out which half you are in is the first useful thing we can do.

For the half that sells to the town, most visits are an errand

North Norfolk District Council's own review of the town centre found visits splitting sharply between stops of under fifteen minutes and longer trips of two to four hours, with very little night-time trade and a shop vacancy rate of around 13 per cent. That is a portrait of an errand town. People arrive knowing roughly what they want and leave once they have it. A website serving that behaviour has one job, which is to answer a question quickly: are you open, have you got it, could you do it this week, what does it cost, where do I park. Everything else is decoration, and decoration is what most of these sites have instead of an answer.

The corollary is that being found for those searches matters more than how many pages you have. An errand is a short search, usually on a phone, usually within a few miles.

For the half that does not, local is the wrong frame entirely

We have built for North Walsham manufacturers, care providers, trades, and shops. TekPro make grain sampling equipment sold worldwide. Tank Clad and IBM&R are sister businesses, one lining and cladding industrial tanks, the other maintaining and repairing industrial buildings, and we have built for both. Very different briefs from the same town, each built around what the business actually does.

The commonest mistake we see in this town is a business in the second group having been sold a website designed for the first.

Ten minutes changes how the work goes

Not a marketing line, a practical difference. Meetings happen without anyone booking a call. We can look at the old site, the printed material, and the premises themselves in a single visit, which tells us more in an hour than a questionnaire manages in a week. Handover happens across a table. And when something needs attention you ring us, rather than raising a ticket and waiting three days for a reply from somewhere else entirely.

If you run a business in or around North Walsham, come and find us, or drop us a line and we will come to you. We will tell you which of those two websites you actually need, and if the one you have is closer to it than you think, we will say that too.
